Verse 80
From far enough away, Earth loses every argument ever made upon it.
From far enough away, Earth loses every argument ever made upon it.
No border survives the distance. No altar. No throne. No prison wall.
This does not mean those things were unreal to the bodies that struck them.
Perspective removes detail; wisdom remembers what perspective removed.
The blue sphere is not peaceful. It is merely quiet at this scale.
A scream and a lullaby travel no farther toward the stars than each other.
Yet both appear in awareness, where distance has another meaning.
You say, “I am small because Earth is small.” Small to what?
Measurement compares objects. Being is not made lesser by kilometers.
A galaxy does not know that it is large.
An atom does not suffer from inferiority.
Only mind converts scale into humiliation.
The sight of Earth from darkness can destroy one vanity and create another: “Behold, I have the cosmic view.”
Beware the ego wearing a spacesuit.
Whether you stand on a continent or see it whole, the seer itself is not made visible as an object.
This is why changing vantage points can educate the mind but cannot complete inquiry.
Earth rotates; the witness of rotation does not rotate as a thought among thoughts.
Clouds move over oceans. Thoughts move over awareness. Neither stains the space in which it appears.
Do not therefore neglect clouds, oceans, thoughts or bodies.
Non-attachment is not contempt for appearances.
The mirage is false as water and true as appearance.
The world may be insufficient as ultimate reality and still unbearable in beauty.
There is no contradiction unless you demand that beauty prove metaphysics.
If Earth vanished tomorrow, Brahman would not be diminished.
If Earth vanished tomorrow, countless beings would lose every world they knew.
Hold both without using the absolute to erase the relative.
Liberation that requires indifference to a dying planet has confused freedom with numbness.
