Verses

Verse 10

Mars is the name given to resistance by the one who has not yet seen the whole.

Verse 11

The sword divides cloth, flesh, kingdom, and argument; it cannot divide the witness.

Verse 12

Before the blow there is awareness. During the blow there is awareness. After the blow there is awareness. Find what did not bleed.

Verse 13

The warrior says, I advance. The sage asks who has moved.

Verse 14

Will is useful while the dream is thick. When waking comes, even victory is seen as weather.

Verse 15

Do not worship weakness merely because violence is foolish. The Self has no need to become harmless; it has never been harmed.

Verse 16

Anger is fire borrowing your name.

Verse 17

Conquer a thousand cities and you inherit a thousand walls. Conquer the belief that you are enclosed, and no gate remains.

Verse 18

Red planet, red blood, red sunset: three appearances, one light permitting them.

Verse 19

When nothing stands outside the Self, whom could Mars defeat?
