Verse 4

The villagers accused Tomas of becoming a wolf beneath the full Moon.

Verse 5

Tomas replied that he had merely removed his shirt and shouted at the tax collector.

Verse 6

The magistrate admitted this was locally common behavior.

Verse 7

Old Mira testified she saw fur upon his arms.

Verse 8

Tomas displayed his arms. The court entered hair into evidence.

Verse 9

The priest asked whether he remembered tasting blood.

Verse 10

Tomas said only sausage.

Verse 11

The butcher was summoned and confirmed the sausage was suspicious but legal.

Verse 12

At this point a cat walked across the bench and everyone agreed its eyes looked demonic.

Verse 13

The cat was charged with sorcery.

Verse 14

The cat left before sentencing.

Verse 15

The Moon remained outside, round and uncooperative.

Verse 16

The magistrate ordered clouds to cover it.

Verse 17

No clouds complied.

Verse 18

By dawn Tomas was acquitted, the cat was outlawed, and the Moon had waned by an amount too small for administrative satisfaction.

Verse 19

Thus the village defeated evil according to the minutes.
