I have chased Máni since before men named the chase.

Verse 89

They call me monster because I run hungry. They call him holy because he runs beautifully.

Verse 90

No one asks what promise was made before the first pursuit.

Verse 91

Each night he spills silver on the snow so I cannot pretend I lost the trail.

Verse 92

I have eaten kings, sheep, prayers, and one very arrogant seer. None tasted like the Moon.

Verse 93

At Ragnarök they say I will catch him.

Verse 94

This is supposed to be my victory.

Verse 95

Yet what is a hunter when the running ends?

I begin to suspect prophecy was invented by prey to make predators fear success.
