Verses

Verse 14

The seeker asked for a shore. The teacher pointed to the hand that was reaching.

Verse 15

If you flee the dream, you are still obeying the dream.

Verse 16

A wave said, I am lost. The sea did not answer separately.

Verse 17

Blessed is the one who survives a beautiful vision without founding a religion around it.

Verse 18

You call the world fog because you want another world to be clear.

Verse 19

Find the one to whom clarity would appear.

Verse 20

The cat saw its face in water, touched the water, and abandoned philosophy before noon.

Verse 21

When two mirrors face each other, infinity appears cheaply.

Verse 22

The kingdom is not beneath the ocean, for beneath and above belong to the map.

Verse 23

The drunkard and the mystic both lose boundaries; only one may remember to examine who lost them.

Verse 24

Do not make an idol of emptiness. Empty idols are still idols.

Verse 25

The pearl is not hidden by the shell; the thought of possession is the shell.

Verse 26

Whoever says I have become the Infinite has kept one word too many.

Verse 27

Be still, not so the sea will calm, but so you can see whether you were ever the storm.
