Liber Saturni - Chapter 29

Verses

Verse 22

My cat sat inside the chalk circle, so apparently the summoning succeeded.

Verse 23

I asked her what Saturn meant. She washed one shoulder for several minutes.

Verse 24

This was already clearer than my horoscope.

Verse 25

On the second question she knocked the lead talisman under the sofa.

Verse 26

I took this to mean that material attachments should be released.

Verse 27

She later retrieved the talisman and slept on it.

Verse 28

I revised the doctrine.

Verse 29

The cat teaches nonattachment selectively and mostly concerning objects owned by other people.

Verse 30

When I fasted for wisdom, she screamed until I opened a tin.

Verse 31

Thus I learned that asceticism has stakeholders.

Verse 32

At midnight she stared at an empty corner. I refused to ask.

Verse 33

People say cats see spirits. Mine mostly sees opportunities.

Verse 34

Still, she knows the art Saturn tries to teach: wait without looking bored.

Verse 35

She can watch a closed door for an hour and remain morally superior to it.

Verse 36

When the door opens, she may decline to pass through.

Verse 37

This is liberation from outcome.

Verse 38

Or stupidity. The schools disagree.

Verse 39

I wrote her revelation on expensive paper. She slept on that too.
