Liber Saturni - Chapter 3

Verses

Verse 41

The ring you fear is the thought that says: here I end, and there the world begins.

Verse 42

Disciple, inspect the border. You will find sensation on one side, sensation on the other, and no owner between them.

Verse 43

Saturn is useful when he denies you. The denied object reveals the hand that was reaching.

Verse 44

Do not curse limitation too quickly. A wall can expose the one who believes himself imprisoned.

Verse 45

The body grows old inside awareness; awareness does not acquire wrinkles.

Verse 46

Time devours every name you give yourself, yet the witness of the devouring is never found among the bones.

Verse 47

Shani may collect the debt of action, but ask first: to whom is the account finally addressed?

Verse 48

The ego wants liberation as its last possession. The gatekeeper laughs, because possession is the gate.

Verse 49

Sit beside the slow planet in thought. Let every ambition complete its orbit and return exhausted.

Verse 50

Lead is heavy because it dreams of being gold. Awareness has no metal.

Verse 51

Do not become proud of detachment. Pride wearing ashes is still pride.

Verse 52

The world says, endure. The sage asks who is enduring.

Verse 53

If sorrow comes, know it completely. Half-known sorrow becomes doctrine.

Verse 54

Nothing is outside the Self, not even the jailer you invented to explain the bars.

Verse 55

The last boundary is the belief that there must be a last boundary.

Verse 56

When Saturn has taken your titles, lovers, victories, failures, youth, and future, notice what he could not carry away.

Verse 57

That remainder is not a remainder. It was the whole before counting began.

Verse 58

Therefore bow neither to the planet nor away from it. Know the seer of Saturn.

Verse 59

The ring shines because the Sun touches fragments. So too the mind appears holy when awareness touches broken thought.

Verse 60

Freedom is not beyond the seventh gate. Freedom is the absence of the traveler.
