Verse 27

The straight tree becomes lumber. The crooked tree becomes a landmark.

Verse 28

Do not therefore cultivate crookedness. Intentional weirdness is merely conformity facing backward.

Verse 29

Uranus does not roll sideways to make a statement.

Verse 30

The sage who performs eccentricity has chosen society as an audience and is still bound to society.

Verse 31

Freedom does not require applause from the normal or the strange.

Verse 32

A cup upside down cannot hold tea. A cat upside down can still bite you.

Verse 33

Function is local; essence is not a posture.

Verse 34

The disciple painted his door blue and called himself liberated. The master asked who selected the shade.

Verse 35

He said, I did. The master asked who is I. The renovation stopped for three years.

Verse 36

Do not confuse disruption with awakening. Thunder wakes sleepers and enlightens very few.

Verse 37

The old path may be false. The new path may be false with better typography.

Verse 38

Walk until paths become useful rather than sacred.

Verse 39

Then even the sideways planet is simply turning.
