Liber Caeli - Chapter 43

Verses

Verse 23

They called me difficult before I was old enough to know the easier alternative.

Verse 24

At school, normal meant detecting invisible rules quickly enough that nobody had to explain them.

Verse 25

I was bad at that and good at noticing the rules were invisible.

Verse 26

Verse 27

Then I mistook conformity for kindness. That was fear wearing manners.

Verse 28

Uranus became useful to me only as an image: a respectable planet with an indecent angle.

Verse 29

It did not ask permission to fit the diagram.

Verse 30

But planets pay no social cost. People do.

Verse 31

Freedom is romantic from the outside and expensive from inside the body.

Verse 32

Still, there are rooms in which the price of belonging is becoming absent from yourself.

Verse 33

Leave those rooms when you can.

Verse 34

And when you cannot, keep one private axis no committee can measure.
