Then glass improved, patience accumulated, and a faint object disobeyed expectation.
The universe became larger without moving an inch.
That sentence should humble every age.
Uranus is not important because it governs rebellion, genius, electricity, or your bad Tuesday.
It is important because it was there while our complete cosmos excluded it.
Reality did not become offended by omission.
It waited without waiting.
Beyond the old boundary was not paradise, only another planet: cold, strange, beautiful, physical.
This may be the better revelation.
When one heaven breaks, do not immediately build a religion around the debris.
Look through the opening.
Build better instruments.
Keep the joke if you need the joke.
Keep the wonder even if you keep nothing else.
There is more sky than the map, and perhaps more freedom than the names we have given it.
